Womens Equality Day

In honour of Women's Equality Day, we asked one of our amazing female leaders a few questions.

Can you please introduce yourself?

Hi, I’m Claire Thomson and I’m the CFO at The Pebble Group plc.

Who inspired you to be a leader and why?

I wouldn’t say it was any one person in particular. I’ve always been driven and eager to develop and learn.  The encouragement I received along the way, motivated me to make the most of the opportunities I’ve been given.

I’m also not very good at being told what to do, so I worked hard at getting myself to a place where there are only a few people who can do that!

How would you describe your leadership style?

Results matter, so work hard, be respectful and empathetic to people’s individual needs and circumstances, and lead by example.

I also think it’s important to work collaboratively, invest time, and share a part of yourself with your team in order to build good working relationships. Be available for support and guide when it’s asked for.

What has been the most significant barrier in your career? Have you been confronted with gender-related roadblocks in your career?

I’ve been really lucky at The Pebble Group and can honestly answer there hasn’t been one. In my previous role that wasn’t the case and that was a significant part of me deciding the place wasn’t for me.

What advice would you give to young women in this organization?

Go for it. If you have a goal, share it and this organisation will do all it can to support you in achieving it.
